The Case of the Hollow Lane Howler

A cauldron of candy has vanished from Mrs. Pumpkinseed’s front porch. A trail of huge, furry footprints leads off into the woods. The only witnesses (a black cat, a family of bats and a rather wise old owl) refuse to say a word except in secret code. Your detective cracks three ciphers, rules out five costumed suspects and figures out who (or what) took the cauldron. It’s made for kids 8 to 12 to solve on their own, with just enough challenge to make them work for it.
